At Moov, our focus on deliberate programming and movement sets us apart. What is deliberate programming? We view it as intelligent, coach-designed workouts that emphasize safety and variability of movements.

WOD Programming

It does no one any good to repetitively work muscle groups that are already past the point of failure. In fact, this type of daily programming (think “leg day” three days in a row) is not only unproductive but dangerous. CrossFit has developed a reputation for higher incidence of rhabdomyolysis, a type of kidney failure caused by excess levels of muscle breakdown into the bloodstream.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Instead of relying on fitness apps or workout generators, Moov relies on head coach Zach Martinez. Zach designs each workout based on the ones that come before and after. By working a wide range of muscle groups over time, the risk of injury due to overexertion is much lower. It’s also better from a convenience perspective: athletes who come in on back-to-back days can do so safely and effectively. Taking the time to develop programming that puts safety first is a huge benefit to our coaches and athletes.

Developing Full Range of Motion

Everyone is on their own fitness journey where individual levels of flexibility and movement are different. You do not have to be able to do the splits to attain a full range of motion. However, stretching and flexibility are a good place to start.

At Moov, our deliberate programming includes warm-ups and cool downs that encourage athletes to get uncomfortable with their range of motion. Stretching can be tough, but the purpose of it is to loosen muscles, provide relief from soreness, and help you move in ways you haven’t before.

Another technique we use is incorporating equipment such as balls, foam rollers, bands, and blocks to help you open and release muscles. We also use yoga, pilates, and stretching recommended by physical therapists and chiropractors in our warm-up and cool-down routines. All these practices go into our programming and are considered for the overall movement of the athletes.
