Here at Moov, we have eight Core Values that guide our purpose and methodology. They ground us and help us remember why we do what we do every day. Over the next few weeks we will be covering why each of these values is important to our gym and its members.
At the top on our list of values is food. It may seem counterintuitive that our first value is actually something that happens outside the gym more than in it, but there’s a reason! Everyday we interact with food and we make choices as to what we put in our body. And the choices we make about food can dramatically affect the commitments we make and the goals we have in the gym.
At Moov, we see food in relation to exercising in these two sentences: Eat nutritious food. Exercise is not a replacement for a healthy diet.
How many times have you told yourself, “I had a great workout this morning, so I deserve a treat?” or “I ate a huge meal last night and need to burn it off.” We’ve all done it. We justify our eating habits by the amount we workout. But ideally, exercise and nutrition go hand in hand.
You get to be the boss because it is your nutritional journey, and there are many nutritionists, apps, coupons, and other resources to help you discover the best version of yourself. Now the question is, will you take responsibility for the way you treat your body?
Feeding Nutrition into Fitness
When you hear this, it is very easy to take things to the extreme of cutting everything out and drastically increasing the grocery budget. However, that doesn’t have to be the case.
At Moov, we highlight nutrition and encourage our athletes to participate in a healthy lifestyle outside of just working out. We truly believe that what you put in your mouth is just as important as your workout, and as such we have many resources available for members and non-members. We invite you to interact with our coaches to set goals, meet with our in-house nutritionist or wellness coach, or participate in our twice-yearly Epic nutrition challenges.
These are options because we want to help you get started. We all know how hard it is to make a lifestyle change and sometimes all you need is someone to empathize and support you. Moov is just the place to find the resources and support you need.
